Outside Reading #4
After Bella meets Edward’s family, Edward gives her a tour; he tells her the history of Carlisle, his guardian. During his story, Edward reveals that vampires, like him, don’t need to breath. Every time he tells Bella an interesting and weird fact about vampires, Edward grows somber and examines Bella’s expression. Eventually he tells Bella, “’I know that at some point, something I tell you or something you se is going to be too much. And then you’ll run away from me, screaming as you go.’” Bella confirmed his grief to be unnecessary by responding, “’I’m not running anywhere’”. This shows the reader that Bella is no longer frightened of the idea that Edward, who she loves, is a vampire. Also that she is no longer scared of being in love, before she was always questioned if she should be with Edward and worried what other people thought. I think that this will help the development of their relationship, and help make it stronger.
