Outside Reading #9
When Bella woke up the next morning, she saw Alice Drawing out another one of her visions again. After watching her for awhile, Bella realizes that Alice's vision was of her mothers house. Then soon after that, Alice's phone rang, and she gave it to Bella, it was her mom. Then a man's voice was on the phone, and it was the tracker. He told Bella to go to her house, alone and with none of her vampire friends coming behind her, and then call a number when she got there. Bella couldn't tell Alice or Jasper because if she did then the tracker would kill her mother. When they were at the Phoenix airport, Bella escaped from Alice and Jasper, right before Edward came in on his plane. She rushed to her house and called a phone number on the whiteboard, then the tracker told her to go to the dance studio that is around the corner from her house. When she got there, there was one studio with the lights on; and in it was a TV and VCR, and a tape of a family video of Bella and her mom. The tracker had tricked her. After the tracker had broke her leg, slammed her in a mirror and bruised every inch of her body, Bella was barely alive. All of a sudden she realizes that Edward and Carlisle are there taking care of her. When she got to the hospital, her mom was there, and they had to tell her mom that she fell down a flight of stairs and through a window. When Bella's mom talks to Bella about their life ahead of them. Bella responds with, "Mom, I want to live in Forks, its not too bad over there," (Meyer 342). This last reading shows that Bella truly does love Edward; she is willing to live in Forks, the town that she hates, just for him. It also shows Bella's true physical and mental capability. The whole book she is presented as a weak, not thoughtful, and uncoordinated; In this chapter she shows her love for her family, Edwards family, and what she is willing to risk or give up for both of them.
